I’ve had my Bushnell Launch Pro for quite some time now, and I can tell you without question it is the most accurate, easiest to use, most reliable launch monitor I’ve ever owned. And though I paid quite a bit more than what it goes for these days, I don’t regret it one bit. The day will come when I part ways with this trusty launch monitor, but it won’t be without some serious sadness. It has been and continues to be a staggeringly-good piece of hardware.
That being said, it’s a bit of a gut punch to see the pricing on this thing across the board these days. What once was a $3999 investment can be had today for just $1999.99. The caveat being that this half-priced version only has ball tracking, not club tracking. But let me explain to you why exactly that isn’t really a big deal if you are wanting to use this thing for a golf simulator setup.
Ball data is what matters in the end
At the end of the day, regardless of what your club is doing coming into the ball, what the ball ultimately does coming off the clubface is all that really matters. Whether you come over the top a bit with a slightly-closed clubface for that sweet butter cut or approach things a bit too far from the inside with an open faced draw, as long as you know what effect that all has on the ball, you can play golf.
For training purposes, club data is definitely helpful. Don’t hear me saying that it isn’t; but I’ve also never bothered slapping the stickers on my clubs to mess with club data even once on the Bushnell Launch Pro. I use this thing for my golf simulator setup, and the ball tracking accuracy is all that matters in the end. Club data or not, the Launch Pro is crazy accurate.
So, if you are looking for a launch monitor with silly-fast response times, accurate ball data, and the ability to use it with GS Pro, TGC 2019, FSX Play, or Awesome Golf, the ball data-only version of the Bushnell Launch Pro could be an excellent fit for you at this reduced price. After all, if you know what the ball is doing, you can usually figure out club data pretty easily from that information. And at a penny under two grand, this could be the best way to get into a bit of a higher-end simulator setup that you’ve been waiting for.
